"The Entity" (1982)

Some ghosts possess young children; other, more friendly spirits do crazy things, like stack chairs in your kitchen.  Then, there is the ghost in The Entity, a 1980's movie that focuses on Carla, a single mother who is targeted by a malicious spirit.  This entity doesn't just torment her by following her around and making loud noises.  Instead, it beats, rapes, and sexually abuses her.  Based on a supposedly true story, this film is certainly controversial and will forever alter the way you look at the term "haunted house"....

The Entity was previously available to watch instantly on Netflix, but unfortunately isn't available in DVD or streaming form.  Make sure to keep an eye out for its return, or you can buy it straight from Amazon.  To get a taste of the movie, check out the following clip:

P.S. As stated previously, The Entity was based on the true story of Carla Moran.  In one particularly violent instance, her teenage son attempted to intervene when the ghost was sexually assaulting his mother.  In the process, his arm was broken.  Strangely enough, when filming the scene for the film, the actor who played the son actually broke his arm, as well.
